The Larger the bit the more Water you need. If you suspect steel then use more water to keep the barrel cool.

Don’t force drill. Drill slowly, don’t try to put too much pressure on the bit thinking you will cut through the steel. Let the diamond teeth do the work. It is a slow process. use water to keep the bit cool.
